Pre-match Presscon Article for 2nd meeting between Aguilas v Ceres in CPA.
September 21, 2018
It’s matchday 4 of the Copa Paulino Alcantara and we are bound to witness another great fixture from group A between Davao Aguilas Bellmare FC and Ceres-Negros FC. The match is set to kick-off at 4pm, in Rizal Memorial Stadium.
As it stands, all teams in Group A have 3 points each, only separated by the goal difference and number of games played by each team. Stallion is on top of the table with a goal difference of +2, having the same result with Davao but only to have one more game played while Ceres is at the bottom with 3 games played and a goal difference of -4.
After the match on Saturday, September 22, we may have a picture of who will make the top 2 to proceed to the semi-finals. The top seed will face the second seed from Group B and vice-versa.
Here are some of the possibilities:
If Davao wins…Ceres will be knocked-out of the group while Davao and Stallion will still be playing each other twice more before finalizing the standings.
If Ceres wins… one possible outcome that Ceres can hope for is the remaining 2 games between Stallion and Davao will both be draws so that either one will be eliminated while Ceres will hope to finish in the top seed.
“We cannot take Ceres lightly. We are preparing the same way against Ceres as we have in other games. The break has let us get players fit again with only one player still on the sidelines. We go out every game to play our best and to make our fans proud.” said Coach Leigh Manson.
Furthermore, Matt Hartmann added “A partnership with a J League team speaks for itself, as everyone has said it’s a massive achievement for the club and will take us to the next level. We have competition in every position and yes, with added motivation for us, not just myself, but it will make everyone work harder and perform to their best. It will make the coaches decisions even harder. Regarding the 3 weeks, we took full advantage of the break working hard and remaining focused on our next match.”
The match will surely be an exciting and nerve-racking one. Who knows-maybe Ceres will come out on top despite the early defeats to Davao and Stallion? Or we may see the next team to be victimized by Davao’s dominance in their recent results? However the game will pan out to be, it’ll surely make an impact. We hope to see you there at Rizal Memorial Stadium. Again, kick-off is at 4pm.
