An injury time goal from Stallion disappoints Davao once again to settle for a point

July 30, 2018

Davao scored first with a goal from Wesley Dos Santos at 38 minutes but a late equalizer from Fitch Arboleda cancels Davao’s early victory party at Binan Football Stadium.
Stallion Laguna is now unbeaten at home for 5 straight home games after their draw with Davao earlier today.

Since the kick-off, Stallion already started knocking on the door of Davao’s defense but Davao stood firm and strong to deny all of Stallion’s chances. Despite Davao having some possession of their own, Stallion kept their will-power to score first and seemed to be the better side early on. However, no goal came from either side until the 38th minute when Wes Dos Santos was able to head the ball in for a rebound off a shot from Jason de Jong, which Stallion’s Tripulca saved magnificently. Dos Santos has now opened his goalscoring account for his new club since arriving from Global. Soon after, Kim was able to make a great attempt on goal with a header off a cross from Bradley McDonald but was saved yet again by the goalkeeper,Tripulca, of Stallion. It proved to be the turning point of the game as Davao started to control the game heading into half-time while the score ended 1-0 in favor of Davao.

Come the 2nd half, Davao gave a good showing in the early minutes of the 2nd half. However, at 57 minutes, Stallion got the chance to equalize as Melliza was able to breakaway and find Alquiros whose shot went too wide for a goal kick.

10 minutes after, Davao seemed to have both hands on the steering wheel as they were making set pieces work except converting the goal. Despite the shift in momentum, Stallion was able to fight back and hold their fort by making stops since it was alarming with the number of chances off set-pieces Davao was making at goal.

At 84 minutes, Kim had another headed shot on goal but was saved yet again by Tripulca, who keeps his team alive late in the game. The save proved to be of massive impact as Arboleda was able to equalize with a header in injury time off a set-piece cross from Polli to deny Davao winning all 3 points in the game.

Davao get back in action 2 weeks from now as they prepare for a match against the current back-to-back champions, Ceres, in Panaad Park and Stadium on August 12.
